"Art talent is a gift.  As art educators, it is our calling to nurture this gift and help each child reach his or her full potential." Harold Petersen.
1.    Art talented children can create art on a higher level than we generally assume.
2.    Art principles and skills can be taught to art talented children as early as the 1st grade.
3.    Children respond better when taught with genuine caring and understanding.
4.    Positive feedback is one of the most effective teaching tools, especially for children.
5.    The more one learns, the more enjoyable art becomes, so it is self-motivating.
6.     Children need to produce some "masterpieces," which can be displayed or entered in competitions.  Such recognition, along with teacher and parent compliments, promote feelings of self worth and confidence in the child.
7.    Children are naturally creative.  This  trait should never be discouraged, rather it should be nurtured and utilized in a way to make each lesson exciting.

NEVER SACRIFICE CREATIVITY FOR CORRECTNESS
