We are happy to offer Impressionist Oil Painting taught by Melody Maurer Williams and Oil Painting taught by Trudy Richardson.  Color theory is introduced and explored through the use of oil paint or at the student's option, acrylic media.  Students will learn the basic skills and techniques of oil painting while painting both class and personal subjects.  Gradually each student will be freed to work on compositions and subject matter at their own direction.
The work of Melody Williams, captures the  light, feel, atmosphere and essence of her subjects and has been significantly influenced by both Russian and California Impressionists of the early twentieth century. Students in her class will learn impressionist theory and technique working with oil paint.  Subject matter will include landscape and still life, with students being free to pursue other subjects at their discretion.

Watercolor is our most popular class offering and is taught by Harold Petersen our founder, Janet Stuart and Linda Sanders (there are limited openings with Pete, Janet & Linda, sign up today).  It is among the most expressive of all two dimensional media while also being easy to use for the average home artist (there are no toxic fumes and clean up is with soap and water).  Students study basic drawing, color theory, and numerous application techniques.  Approaches include both representational and  abstract schools of expression.
