Each class at the Petersen Art Center will require some investment in art supplies that will be used during the class and that become part of your personal "toolkit," for your creative expression. The lists that follow are provided by our instructors. If you already have supplies we recommend that you bring them to your class. In many cases the brush, color or tool that you have may well suffice even if it is not exactly the same item recommended by the instructor. In some cases the instructor may ask you to add items that are essential for the class. Select the links below to download pdfs. of the materials recommended for each class:
1. Children's and Junior High Art Classes: These are the only classes at the Petersen Art Center where materials are provided and a materials fee is charged in addition to tuition. Your child is welcomed to bring any personal supplies he or she has, but they are not required to bring any supplies.
2. Pottery Art Classes: Each student will need a basic potter's tool kit including: needle, sponge, cutting wire, wooden rib, metal rib, double end loop trimming tool and pear core trimmer. This may be brought by the student to class or it may be purchased from your instructor at class for $20.00. Clay must purchased from your instructor. It is $20.00 per 25lb. bag which includes a glazing & firing fee.
